Walnut library built-in
A full-height walnut library wall with integrated lighting, a rolling ladder and a concealed office door.
The challenge
What made it hard.
An eleven-foot wall with an out-of-plumb corner, a return-air grille that could not move, and a client request for a bookcase section that swings open into the home office without a visible handle or gap.
The solution
How we built it.
The wall was drawn as five shop-built cases with a scribe stile at the out-of-plumb corner, and the return air was absorbed into a slotted walnut grille that reads as part of the design. The concealed door hangs on a heavy-duty pivot with a touch latch; the shelf lines run through the door face so the joint disappears when it is closed.
