Walnut bar & backbar

A 62-foot walnut bar, backbar and bottle display built around a hard opening date on Park Avenue.

The challenge

What made it hard.

The building is a 1920s storefront with a floor that fell almost two inches across the bar run, and the operator had already booked a soft-opening dinner nine weeks out. The bar had to read as one continuous slab of walnut with no visible seams, while hiding beer lines, glycol, drainage and under-counter refrigeration.

The solution

How we built it.

We laser-scanned the slab, drew the bar in three shop-built sections with scribe-able bases, and set the top as a single laminated walnut run with book-matched joints located over structural panels. Every mechanical chase was drawn into the submittal before fabrication, so the plumber and refrigeration contractor built to our shop drawings instead of cutting into finished work.
