Fluted reception desk
An ADA-compliant fluted reception desk and matching wall paneling for a specialty clinic in Lake Nona.
The challenge
What made it hard.
The architect specified a continuous flute wrapping a curved desk face, but the plan also required two ADA transaction heights, a sanitizable surface at every touch point and a submittal package the health-system tenant could approve in a single round.
The solution
How we built it.
We modeled the curve and set the flute spacing so the pattern lands symmetrical at both returns, then built the radius in a vacuum press with rift-cut veneer laid up in sequence. Transaction tops are solid surface with a coved, seamless joint to the deck. The submittal went out with finish samples and mock-up photos and came back approved without comment.
